This blog is semi-closed: anyone can read, but only invited guests can write. To participate in summer homework in 2013, you must send AFletcher an email requesting an invitation. At the meeting, I asked you to read the assignment on the blog so you could see what you were getting into before signing up; if you decide to participate, get the invitation so you can write.

A thought

Today while watching a movie, I considered how Postman made me consider how religion and politics really are portrayed by the media. For the most part, politicians are made out either as heroes for their own campaigns, or evil doers, opposing the voice of the people. For example, consider the presidential debates. At any time, during a debate, at least 10 different news networks were covering the event, each from a different angle. Some would share the same, while others were working to oppose them. The sad part of all of this is that the people will simply choose the choice that is best portrayed by the media. I think that this is making us weaker as intellectual beings, and we need to help put a stop to it.
