AIBO

My favorite chapter of Alone Together was the third chapter titled true companions where Turkle introduces us to the robot dog AIBO a new venture into the robot market by Sony.  This robot dog is perfect for people that do not have the ability to take care of a living dog, but they still want to have all the fun that all dog owners can have.  This chapter got me thinking that can artificial pets compete with real living dogs for the affection of their owners.  Can these types of dogs form the same type of emotional bond that is normally formed between a dog and its owner.  Does anyone out there think that they could love an artificial dog just as much as a living dog if they were given the chance to have it as a pet.  I would be interested to see just how many of us would have a robot for a pet if given the chance
