In Amusing Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman discusses how our news and media have all become trivial, with their main purpose being to entertain, not inform. Now, over 3 decades later, we can see the growing trends of triviality in our brand new forms of technology, media, and entertainment. Appearance and delivery have an increasing power to sell products, not the quality of the product itself. Pop culture and social media have become increasingly influential, and are responsible for delivering strong messages of what it means to be happy and successful, as well as what is considered attractive, and the importance of staying socially relevant.
What are the effects of this triviality on our society? Are they positive or negative? How influential do you believe these technologies have become? Where do you think our society's future is headed, based on the influence of these technologies?
Technology is influencing every aspect of ourselves. Particularly, people are now emotionally clinked with their devices. It reminds of a friend who silenced her phone for 20 minutes. When she turned it back to normal, at least 5 messages from her mom. In order, the texts were this: "How is it going," "Hello," "Where are you, "???? CALL ME," and "WHERE ARE YOU KALSY??!!!"

Technology is feeding off of people's insecurity. Do people start Twitters or Instagrams to really connect with friends, or to expose the self-centeredness in one's self.
It was until recently when cyberbullying is being recognized in schools.
I believe that technology hash as brought different personalities out of everybody just to maintain social stability. Social media is so important right now that people will do whatever they can to gain/get something out of it. I think technology has more negative aspects than positive because of the fact of how important social media is these days that people don't care about content or important information , but more of high social status.
