Obsession With Model T

Brave New World revolves mainly around Ford's original Model T car. This is even used as the starting point for time. I found this really odd, as now a days, such a date is very insignificant to us in our everyday lives. Such a invention is important, but at the same time, we don't bother to ever remember the date of when it was invented. This to me, parallels how we reference the death and birth of Jesus Christ in terms of years. (Ex. Bc and AD). This Allusion to Jesus struck me as odd, because to us, as I stated earlier, the day the Model T was made is not really important to us at all.
